Gruppo Gamma's Peacemaker is the worthy successor to the much-loved but already discontinued Genesis collection. While the timepieces themselves will be available from early 2018, the Peacemaker's blueprint was developed way back in 2014.
Introduced in 2013, the Genesis was Gruppo Gamma's first line of watches and it was a faithful homage to the Rolex Ref 6152.
In early 2014 we started working on a new design called the Vanguard, which was intended to be an evolution and replacement of the Genesis. The first Vanguard design (i.e. the Mk I) was drawn up, but was put aside temporarily while we continued to revise the design.
Later in the year, owing to a series of unexpected events we decided to release the Vanguard in its Mk III form, way ahead of its time. We didn't get to put the Mk I Vanguard to production at the time.
We've now decided to reintroduce this design, via the Peacemaker. With the benefit of our newly-acquired capability the Peacemaker will have stronger vintage-colored lume, a thinner case and vintage-style domed sapphire crystal.
Also, with the Peacemaker we'll be reintroducing the California dial after a hiatus of more than 2 years. This time it'll be a 'Semi-Cali' dial - comprising Arabic numerals only - and, consistent with our design undertones, in military stencil typeface.
In addition to the Semi-Cali, the Peacemaker will also be offered with our signature 'Supernova' dial. Gruppo Gamma was the first to put this dial to watch production, in 2014. Its design was based on an elusive prototype in the '50s that we've revived and modernised.
